Why depression is in peak and suicide is high in society
"Today if we look around, most of the people are stressed out. Many reach a breaking point and get into depression. This is mostly common amongst the youth. 
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), depression is the most common illness worldwide and the leading cause of disability. They estimate that 350 million people are affected by depression, globally.

Some of the reasons for people being at higher risk of depression than others; risk factors include::

  • Life events - including closed one’s death, divorce, work issues, relationships with friends and family, financial problems, medical concerns, or acute stress.
  • Personality - those with less successful coping strategies, or previous life trauma.
  • Genetic factors - first-degree relatives of depressed patients are at higher risk.
  • Childhood trauma.
  • People who have had an episode of major depression are at higher risk of a subsequent one.
  • Expectations are too high, probably because of the emphasis on “you can be anything you want to be” and highly positive self-views.

Depression is without question the most common reason why people commit suicide. Severe depression is always accompanied by a sense of suffering as well as the belief that escape from it is hopeless. The pain of existence often becomes too much for severely depressed people to bear. The state of depression warps their thinking, allowing ideas like "Everyone would all be better off without me" to make rational sense.
Because depression, as we all know, is almost always treatable, we should all seek to recognize its presence in our close friends and loved ones. Often people suffer with it silently, planning suicide without anyone ever knowing. If you suspect someone might be depressed, don't allow your tendency to deny the possibility of suicidal thought, in fact one should talk to that person and help him/her to come out of it."
